3 AUTHORS WHO'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO DYSTOPIAN LITERATURE HAVE HELPED SHAPE THE GENRE
H.G. Wells: He revolutionized the genre from the very first book to his last, not only that but he brought the genre to the mainstream. Famous works:The Time Machine, The Invisible Man, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The War of the Worlds, The First Men in the Moon, The Shape of Things to Come. He brought intelligence to his novels using scientific theories and methods in all of his writings. many of his book explain inventions that will come decades after he wrote the books. Some credit him as the father of modern dystopian fiction.
George Orwell: His novel 1984 was for many years the base for all dystopian novels. In this novels he introduces the ideas of political oppression, psychological suppression, constant monitoring, and of course Big Brother. all of these ideas reoccur in the most popular dystopian novels.
Ray Bradbury: His novel Fahrenheit 451 caused many debates among scholars and to many this is the most "accurate representation of a post WW2 world where the allied forces lost". In this society books are outlawed in fact not only are they outlawed but they are also burned. The main character is a fire fighter but his job isn't to put out fires, no, instead he creates them by burning books. The book is a look at the affects mass-media and television can have on books and literature. The title is to represent the auto-ignition temperature of book-paper (451 Fahrenheit)
